4Ice Skating Lesson Information
November 14 – thru March 11
A variety of lessons for all ages and skill levels is offered through the Learn to Skate USA program designed by the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Skaters looking for more one-on-one attention may make an appointment for a private lesson. Special group lesson rates are available for parties of 10 or more.
GROUP LESSONS
Class Fee:
One Session – (5) 30 minute lessons               = $145
30 Minute “Pick-Up” (Walk-in Group Lesson)   = $  35
Class fee includes:

  • complimentary skate rental
  • ice time during lesson with one (1) hour practice time before or after the lesson
  • Learn to Skate USA Membership card
  • brightly colored record book with stickers to track your progress throughout the lessons
  • membership year patch
  • basic skills edition of SKATING magazine

*There is an additional $15 one-time charge per skater per season for group lesson registration for Learn to Skate USA Membership.

Tuition must be paid in advance to assure a space in the group classes. Group lessons consist of three (3) or more skaters.

Pick-Up Classes
Register 15 minutes before an on-going class. Fee – $35
If the ice rink is closed due to weather, cancelled lessons will be
made up the following week with one hour classes.
Birthday Party Lesson for Children
30 minutes $14 per child (8 child minimum). Reservations must be made a minimum of 7 days in advance. Admission for ice time and the cost of skate rental are purchased separately. Lesson arrangements may also be made for other types of parties based on instructor availability.

Tips for Success:

Proper Attire: Layered, warm clothing that does not restrict movement, in addition to gloves and helmets, are
recommended for beginners for outdoor skating.

Parking: Free parking on Madison Drive Saturdays and Sundays, and 3-hour limit weekdays. Meters are located on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street surrounding the rink.

Metrorail/Metro: Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter or Smithsonian

Please note: if ice resurfacing/cleanings do occur, group classes and private lessons may start or end 10–15 minutes later.
