John Russo
Hello everyone. My name is John from Washington Elite. It is the premier platform for news and entertainment media in the international blockchain community. And right now, with me is Elena from beincrypto. And today I want to speak with you about beincrypto, about the events where we’re sitting right now and of course, maybe about yourself. So 1st, first of all, can you please tell me a little bit about your projects and what brought you here to the Blockchain Economy?
Elena
I’m the founder and the CEO of one of the biggest crypto news media in the world. It’s beincrypto. We are top one by coverage, we have 13 languages, we are top three by audience and we’ve been here for four years. I founded the company actually in September 2018 right after the ICO boom, after the burst of the bubble, actually. And since that time we are developing us as a news media first and as an educational platform second. So here we are, the key media partner of the Blockchain Economy event.
John Russo
Amazing.
Elena
And I’m the speaker.
John Russo
What are you talking about today?
Elena
Today I’ve been talking about web3 space and HR in web 3space, how to build a decentralized company, how to find the right people, how to motivate them. So it was basically a tutorial for employers, employees and recruiters in one thing.
John Russo
So do you think that there are actually existing decentralized companies?
Elena
beincrypto is a decentralized company in the sense that we don’t have any headquarters, not a single office. We are scattered all around the world. We have 220 people working from more than 60 countries and only 5% of team members actually met each other offline. So we are decentralized. but in terms of management, it’s a different thing. We tested something with autonomous organizations, but I do believe that at the current stage the whole concept is not mature enough. And secondly, the audience and the people who are engaged into this, not that engaged and motivated. So there should be some discipline, motivation to keep everything going. So in the sense of management, there should be some decentralization. But at the same time in beincrypto, we are trying to build this flat hierarchy when every local team, 13 we have every local team has their own flexibility, has their own strategy, their own content and we are basically supporting them with some resources.
John Russo
That’s super interesting because I think right now a lot of companies are moving in this direction of having side organizations. And did you work in companies with like a vertical hierarchy and can you kind of give a comparison?
Elena
Oh, definitely I did. I had a big experience of working in the companies like this and it actually decreases their efficiency, decreases the productivity, slows down all the processes and increase bureaucracy. So when you have the right people at the right place and give them the needed freedom and flexibility, they are able to do things quite fast and they are able to build connections between departments without going to the top level.
John Russo
Okay, I think that’s amazing, purely amazing because many managers believe that they’re entitled and they forget that empowering employees is a good deed. And so I’m very happy that your company have such a progressive way of
Elena
it’s actually impossible to build it in a different way in the decentralized community because we are not sitting in the office, we’re working from different time zones. So it’s a challenge to motivate people properly, to connect them properly and that’s what we are doing. That’s why we changed the strategy.
John Russo
Amazing.
So who are your competitors and what makes you stand out, out of the competition?
Elena
Yeah, in the sense of news media is definitely coindesk and cointelegraph, but their focus and direction is more like on crypto geeks and in our sense we focus more on newbies, on people who are just joining the space, people who don’t know what is going on, don’t know the terminology, don’t know all this slang. And we are helping them to learn their way, to find their way in crypto space with the simplified solutions. Like the text itself should be simple and we have all kinds of tutorials in different forms, video, Tik Tok, text courses. So it’s all kind of give you this interactive opportunity to get into the world when you are learning your way step by step.
John Russo
What are your main channels of distribution of contents and news? Do you like Telegram, Twitter?
Elena
If we’re talking about social media, yeah, we have all the social media channels that are supposed to be there. We have tiktok we have discord. I’m not sure, honestly, I’m not following TikTok for my kids, but yeah, General Channel of Acquisition is definitely website. We are really good in ranking organically because we are writing about the questions that the audience is interested. So somebody is searching in Google, what is Bitcoin? It’s us who will explain it to you.
John Russo
Yeah. Amazing. That’s super cool. So what is your main objective here at this conference?
Elena
We actually launched our new language, Arabic One, seven months ago and this is the first conference in Arabic World that we had and participated and partnered as a media partner. So it was an interesting experience to see how Arab crypto world is different from other worlds. I’m based in Latin America, so I know a lot about Latin America and crypto community, so it’s kind of interesting for me to compare.
You said you have three languages and so that’s English, Spanish and Arabic, right?
John Russo
13 languages.
Wow, that’s very impressive.
Elena
13 languages, people working from 60 countries, 220 people.
John Russo
That is super cool. So how are you finding this conference? Is it meeting your objectives? Did you learn more about the Arabic crypto world?
Elena
Yeah, it’s hard for me to say because it’s my basically first crypto event here. I have some other events to attended during the next weeks, but it’s smaller than I expected. But regarding the way you can build a network in here, it’s actually better because the big events, you cannot get in touch of each other. And here it’s more inclusive, I think so, yeah.
John Russo
For sure. Like size doesn’t matter it’s more about the quality matter is much more. What is your favorite part about the conference?
I think speakers part is always exciting because you can express yourself first and at the same time listen to the colleagues in the industry.
John Russo
Yeah, for sure. I think many people come here to enjoy the speakers and to listen. What were they talking about? So right now, as in your sense, you have 13 languages, 220 employees, the biggest crypto media by reach. So what are your plans for the next three to six months?
Elena
Next year, we will focus specifically on integrating blockchain tools into news media and into content media in general. So it will be Tokenization, integrating NFT, integrating skill badges. So anything that kind of help you to first engage communities, get in touch with them, give them feedback from us, and we will get feedback from them. And it’s going to be done through the Tokenization tools.
John Russo
That’s very interesting. I’d very much like to see how will this be realized,
Elena
because we haven’t announced those yet.
John Russo
I’d like to chat with your product manager and see what they propose.
John Russo
For everybody to hear, to see view the media that you’re presenting. What is your website and what are your social medias? How can people find you?
Elena
We are beincrypto.com as I said, and I’m going to repeat it again, we have 13 languages, so you can choose the language that is more applicable to you and your language skills and all the social media are there on the homepage, on the website. So feel free to follow us in whatever social media channel you prefer.
John Russo
Amazing. So I’m very happy about that. So everybody listen again. It’s beincrypto.com right. beincrypto.com. So, Elena, thank you so much for being with us today. It was Washington elite. My name is John. Thank you so much.
Elena
Thank you for inviting.
John Russo
Have great luck with the networking on the conference.
