Shahar Abrams is a lead for business development and blockchain within IBM’s public sector consulting practice, with a specific focus on the federal healthcare sector. Shahar graduated from the University Honors Program at GW in 2014 with a concentration in Finance and has always had a fascination with markets and emerging technologies – easy to see how crypto was a perfect storm! He started his IBM journey as a consultant in the advanced analytics practice. He worked for two years doing research, operations, and business analytics with the USPS before joining a project with the CMS as a statistical modeler focused on preventing waste, fraud and abuse within Medicare. In his new role as an IBM federal sector blockchain lead, Shahar leads business development and go-to-market efforts within the federal healthcare space focused on utilizing blockchain technology to find new innovative solutions to old problems within healthcare. Shahar also serves as a scrum lead for some of IBM’s ongoing blockchain pilots. “I enjoy applying emerging technology to solve difficult problems and that is what got me hooked on blockchain! I have an EP released on Spotify under the name Socratic Method, and I enjoy making and teaching music in my spare time.”
