Balance on the Chain Description:
NFC chipped, Blockchain Registered, 3×4 ft, upcycled mixed media, 2018, Nanu Berks
This crypto fine art piece is double-sided, it emphasizes the feminine/masculine energy integration, within blockchain and all systems, as we evolve into a higher level of compassionate consciousness together. Composed of upcycled materials, from the found wood to the recycled spraypaint-leftovers found in Austin’s city recycling centers, and the cyber-scraps of old hardware from local repair shops.
We can truly grow compassion and kindness for one another and reduce violence in our homes, once we integrate our own femininity and masculinity in ourselves, this is the personal work of each human and why I felt Balance on the Chain would be the most appropriate piece to donate.
The masculine side shows the BTC in gold and the computer circuits, representing the tech, traditionally seen as “male” or “masculine” disciplines to study, however it is spraypainted on an abstract matrix, which cannot be confined or defined, very traditional “feminine” assumptions of how our brains and emotions map out. The truth is that masculinity and femininity have little to do with sex and gender, but more with the balance of both energies as represented in nature for a wholesome balance. I like representing how both extremes create a perfect synergy and how assumptions can be dissolved, so although one side is thought as “more masculine” then the other, the truth is that both represent each in a balanced blend. The feminine side shows the eye of the collective consciousness, intuition, and many fractal structures as seen in nature, which also are considered “feminine” neuro networks such as mycelium, or ancient trees that connect at their roots for entire forests, around the intuitive eye of nature, you can see equations with positive messages of compassion and crypto symbology, which again adds a bit of balance.
This piece has traveled the world with the intention of continuing these conversations beyond the screens. Most recently shown at the NYC Cryptohou.se during blockchain week 2018, and before that in LA for the LA dreams expo also featuring works from artists such as Shepard Fairey Obey. I have received 3 offers to purchase this piece in the past year, but it needed to travel and ignite conversations, it feels very aligned to offer it in this auction collaboration with Tour de crypto.

This piece weighs 22 pounds, it hangs from the frame and can be reversed as you wish to showcase either side, it can also be hung from the ceiling so we can walk around it. Registered on the Blockchain with the Blockchain Art Collective.
This is one of my favorite pieces, especially based on the conversations it has ignited about the tech and about the balance of our extreme natures, advocating for one another as the new masculine and the new feminine in this era of collective awareness.
